The Brooklyn Bridge in New York, was shut down for two hours on Friday, after a report of a suspicious package. Police officials reopened the bridge to cars after the package turned out to be a hoax.

According to reports, the suspicious package was found at around 9:40 a.m. on Friday after someone on the walkway reported a package with copper wiring attached to it. The area was on alert, but it turned out to be a false alarm.

Brooklyn bridge was opened back in 1883, and is one of the oldest bridges in USA which connects Manhattan and Brooklyn. It is a National Historic Landmark. Reports say that the bridge is maintained by New York City Department of Transportation.
