British Prime Minister David Cameron, on August 8, 2012 received furious backlash from the teachers after he alleged that they did not play enough role in encouraging sports among school children. The teachers lashed back after the PM defended the government’s decision to scrap the compulsory teaching of two hours of sports in a week in state schools.

Cameron insisted that inspiring sporting potential in youngsters was about increasing the competitive ethos in schools rather than imposing targets. The PM had alleged that many of the teachers did not want to join in and play their part and that too many schools are wanting to have competitive sports.
