After the French magazine, the topless pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge were also published in Ireland as more countries around Europe threatened to print the revealing pictures of her sunbathing.

The photographs were published in its Saturday edition within just hours when St James Palace announced that it was taking an action against the French magazine ‘Closer’ for printing the same pictures. Mike O’Kane the editor of the magazine said that the pictures were not feature in the Northern Ireland or British editions.

The newspaper based in Dublin is a joint venture between Northern and Shell the publisher of the UK Daily Star and Ireland’s Independent News and Media. O’Kane defended their decision to publish the pictures saying, “The Duchess would be no different to any other celeb pics we would get in, for example Rihanna or Lady Gaga”.

The editor added, “She’s not the future queen of Ireland so really the only place this is causing fury seems to be in the UK, and they are very very tasteful pictures.” While the spokesperson from the St James Palace said, “There can be no motivation for this action other than greed.” Even the Italian gossip magazine said that it planned to print the pictures in a special 26 page issue on Monday.
