Felix Baumgartner, an Austrian Skydiver will soon become the first human to jump off a balloon, which will be at more than 120,000 Ft above Roswell in New Mexico. The height at which the jump will take place is at near vacuum state, and Felix should accelerate beyond 690 mph within 40 seconds.
If everything goes as per plan, Felix will be opening his parachute near the ground, for soft landing in the desert ten minutes after his decent begins. Baumgartner is a 43-year-old adventurer who is popular for jumping off skyscrapers, but is under no illusions about the danger he faces.
The point from where the skydiver will make his jump has air pressure less than 2% of the pressure found at sea level. Moreover, at such altitudes, it will be impossible to breathe without an oxygen supply.
History goes against the Austrian, as others who have tried to break the existing records for the highest, fastest and longest free-falls have lost their lives in the process of executing their jumps. Baumgartner says, “If something goes wrong, the only thing that might help you is God”. According to our sources, initially the jump was to take place on October 8, 2012, but the event was delayed by 24 hours due to bad weather.
