The world was shocked when doping allegations were laid against Lance saying that he used performance enhancing drugs and blood transfusions to propel him to major victories. After investigations took place and former team mates testified against him, Armstrong’s seven Tour de France titles were stripped from him by the cycling authority.

Winfrey is one of the world’s leading talk-show hosts and is no stranger to interviewing high-profile celebrities on controversial topics. During the interview Winfrey carefully dissected Armstrong’s story and asked him direct questions in regards to the doping scandal. Lance said that a doping program was as essential to his team as air was essential to bike tires.

The interview highlighted the fact that the 1,000 page testimony against Armstrong from 26 people was true, despite the athlete’s initial denial of the report. Armstrong said that the last time he had used performance enhancing drugs was in the year 2005. He also said that he had used blood-boosting agents and blood transfusions to help him win Tour de France titles in the past.
