The Old Trafford in Manchester witnessed carnage as England beat India by an innings and 54 runs in the 4th test match of the series.

The series that was hanging in the balance before this test, has taken a dramatic turn after India’s famous Lords victory. England beat India after bowling them out in both innings for 152 and 161 respectively. Even with almost half a day being washed out due to rain, the test match lasted only 3 days. While the England bowlers were impressive, it was the dismal show put up by the Indian batsmen that gave England the victory.

The hosts currently lead the 5 match test series 2-1 with one match to go. As has been the case throughout the series, the Indian batsman failed to deliver with the team recording 6 ducks in the first innings. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the only Indian batsman to cross the 50 run mark, scoring 71 off 200.

Stuart Broad ran through the team picking up 6 wickets in the first innings, which earned him the Man-of-the-Match award.

Broad was hit by a nasty bouncer from Varun Aaron, following which he was rushed to the hospital and did not return to bowl in the second innings. However, Moeen Ali stepped in his place and along with James Anderson, did the job for England.

After a winning at Southampton by 266 runs and an innings and 54 runs at Manchester, England will look to continue their good form in the last test in London. Meanwhile, India will really have to step up their game if they want to have any chance of saving the series.
