UK Today News: Doctors at a Los Angeles hospital have amputated the leg of television actress Zsa Zsa Gabor in a surgery, after her leg was infected with gangrene. The doctors reportedly conducted a successful surgery after she stopped responding to the anti-biotic treatment.
According to Dr. David Rigberg, the actress’ condition is still fragile and is under observation in the hospital. On 2nd January, Gabor was admitted when attempts were made to save her leg.
“Ms Gabor needed an amputation above her knee due to poor circulation and a large ulcerated area on her right leg,” Dr. Rigberg added. Dr. Rigberg, after consulting with Gabor’s husband, had taken the decision to amputate the leg.
Since her hip injury in July, Gabor made frequent visits to the hospital. Many times she had complains of Swelling in legs and blood clots. She had also been through a hip replacement surgery in summer 2010. The actress was admitted after a wound on her right leg was not healing.
