Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney ends spat with Sir Alex Ferguson, calls him ‘an incredible person’.
Manchester United star Wayne Rooney marked 10 years at the club and in an interview with MUTV, has said that Sir Alex Ferguson is an “incredible person and manager.” The 28-year-old English footballer had a fallout with his former manager in the 2013-2014 EPL season after the arrival of Robin Van Persie from Arsenal. Rooney was brought to The Old Trafford by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2003 from Everton.
In the last Premiere League season, Ferguson made Rooney play in the mid-field position, which did not go down too well with the forward. He said, “Everyone at the club knew that’s where I wanted to play. That’s why I was disappointed because I got told to play in midfield and I didn’t want to but I’d always go in and try to help the team. There had to come a point where for my own career I had to be a bit selfish really.
In the interview with MUTV, Rooney says that he is grateful to Sir Alex for having the faith in him when he brought him from Everton in 2003. He also added that Ferguson had been a great influence on him.
Rooney while praising Ferguson’s managerial skills said, “At the time I was coming into the squad as a young lad and there were a few other young lads. He brought all that together and made us world champions. I’m very grateful for everything he’s done.”
On talking about his future at the club, Rooney says he is happy right now and will be looking to sign a 5 year deal with United.
