UK Today News: Sri Lankan Bowler Muttiah Muralitharan Takes 799 Test Cricket Wickets – Murali One Wicket Away From Creating History
Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan is looking forward to creating test cricket history after he inched closer to 800 test cricket wickets on taking his 799th wicket in Galle on Thursday.
Muralitharan has taken six wickets in the match,and is now just one scalp short of the much coveted 800 Test wickets mark.
Paceman Lasith Malinga took the other two of the three wickets by removing Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Mithun. On the other hand, Muralitharan got Harbhajan Singh (8) to leading to great joy in the Sri Lankan camp, but stayed on the 799-mark at the time of the the first break of the day.
Muralitharan aka Murali, is curretly the highest wicket-taker in both Test cricket as well as in One Day Internationals (ODIs). This is his farewell match since the bowler has announced his retirement from Test Match Cricket at the end of the first Test against India at Galle.
