Mexican Independence Day 2010 – Mexico is on high security alert as the Bicentennial Anniversary of the nation will be celebrated on Wednesday, 16th September, 2010, to commemorate 200 years of independence. The high security has been called in after the fear of drug cartel violence in the country. The celebration will be marking the bicentennial anniversary (200th) of Mexico’s independence which they achieved after the uprising which began in the year 1810 against the Spanish.

Reports state that the independence day shows, which are set to begin on Wednesday, is expected to showcase fireworks, parades and concerts which will be depicting Mexican independence against Spain. Security in Mexico is all beefed up to counter any sort of disturbance during the anniversary.

About 100,000 people will be participating in concerts and other events in Mexico City on Wednesday. Reports say that Mexican authorities have placed around 14000 police personnel on duty on Wednesday.
