Lionsgate, Imagine Nation and Triangular Entertainment to bring The Hunger Games to London stage.
The Hunger Games will be brought to stage in London in the summer of 2016 at a new venue near Wembley Stadium in London, announced Lionsgate, the studio behind the movie. Since the second to final sequel of the francise, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, would be released this year, the studio will partner with Dutch media company Imagine Nation and U S-based Triangular Entertainment for the theatrical production to carry it forward.
The third installment has been directed by Francis Lawrence, who is an American/Austrian music video, TV, and film director. The stage production will be produced by Tony Award winner Robin de Levita, known for Broadway hits Urinetown and Into The Woods, along with others.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 would star Oscar winner actress Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson and will see a worldwide release on November 21, 2014. The second part has been planned for a worldwide release on the same day next year.
The first two movies of the film’s franchise grossed over $1.5 billion at the global box office. Originally penned by by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games novels have sold more than 80 million copies globally.
