UK Today News: Day Four : Air Travel Crisis due to Iceland Volcano: Eyjafjallajokull Volcano
A huge area of the European airspace still remains shut and its been the fourth day today.
The Iceland Volcano Eruption of 2010 (Eyjafjallajokull Volcano) has resulted in Britain’s National Air Traffic Services still banned on all flights across its Airspace. This has made British Airways announce that all its flights scheduled for Monday are cancelled.
Germany’s civil aviation authority stated that they allowed many ferry flights by Air Berlin, Lufthansa and Condor airlines overnight. This problem is costing airlines $200 million a day.
Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano still continues as early as Sunday morning “and possibly intensifying,” said Britain’s Met Office meteorological agency. The ash plume seems to rise to around 30,000 feet.
